'He is a proper player': David Seaman says how good 25-year-old Liverpool star is goes under the radar

David Seaman has lauded one Liverpool player who he believes often goes under the radar after the Reds’ win at Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

Jurgen Klopp’s side picked up a huge win in the Premier League title race at the City Ground. Darwin Nunez scored the only goal in the 99th minute, doing brilliantly to head home into the bottom corner.

Nunez’s finish was an excellent one. However, David Seaman was just as impressed by the player who provided the assist, finding the Uruguayan with a lovely cross into the box.

Unsurprisingly, Nunez was full of praise for Alexis Mac Allister after the much-needed moment of composure as the full-time whistle loomed.

Alexis Mac Allister has really grown into his role at Liverpool. It did appear that he took some time to get going, particularly as he was deployed as the deepest midfielder in the side in the early weeks of the campaign.

The improved form of Wataru Endo has arguably had a positive impact on Mac Allister. And speaking on Seaman Says, David Seaman has suggested that the Argentinian should be getting even more credit after his assist.

“He’s a really good player. He does so many of those, the little passes that link defence from midfield, and midfield to the attack,” he said.

“He’s such a good player. And to top it off with that, even Jurgen Klopp singled him out for the ball in, because he knows how good he is to the team. And I was watching the highlights of it, and I was like, he is a proper player.

“One of those players that goes under the radar a little bit, apart from the fact he’s won the World Cup.”

Summer signing proving himself again

Some of those who have moved on from Brighton in the last few years have struggled to kick on, particularly when they have cost substantial fees.

Mac Allister was not playing badly early on. But he was arguably not as good as he had been in the months before Liverpool spent £35 million to sign him.

However, his form has gradually improved, almost week on week. And he now appears to have found his role in the Liverpool midfield.

And there is still every chance that he could follow his World Cup win last season with a Premier League title victory this term.
