Liverpool will soon be looking for a new manager.
Jurgen Klopp has announced he’s leaving the club at the end of the season, and the Reds need to draw up a shortlist of candidates for the summer.
There’s already plenty of speculation around who could come in at Anfield with Xabi Alonso seen by many as the frontrunner for this job.
However, speaking on ESPN, Craig Burley has been discussing who Liverpool could go for next, and he’s named Julian Nagelsmann as a candidate he thinks could be considered for this job.

Burley spoke about the German.
“I think you’re looking at somebody, and I know he might not be everybody’s favourite, but Nagelsmann, he has been through that adversity. He’s a very young manager but what he’s done at Hoffenheim and RB Leipzig, he’s managing Germany for the time being, he’s not a magician and this German team has been on a downward spiral for a long time, all I’m saying is he’s got something, he’s been to smaller clubs to a bigger club like Bayern Munich, arguably bigger than Liverpool, and he will say he’s not been given time, but he has the energy and more experience than Xabi Alonso to have his hat in the ring to be talked about. I think there’s a good manager in there, whether he’s the genius people talk about remains to be seen,” Burley said.
Good option
This could be a really good option for Liverpool.
Nagelsmann may not have had the best 18 months, but he’s still a very bright young manager, and his style isn’t all that dissimilar to Klopp’s.
Indeed, Nagelsmann, as a German, loves his gegenpressing just like Klopp does, and this could be a great fit.
Whether or not Liverpool go in this direction remains to be seen, but this could make a lot of sense.
