'He didn't even see!': TalkSPORT pundit lays into Liverpool player, suggests he has only 'one positive' to his game

Dean Saunders has been speaking about Liverpool’s Darwin Nunez on TalkSPORT and admits he’s not been too impressed as yet.

Nunez came on against Man City yesterday as Liverpool won 1-0 and had a golden chance to first slip in Mo Salah, and then to score himself. On both occasions, Nunez fluffed his lines and it summed up what has been a frustrating start to his time as a Liverpool player.

And while some believe Nunez will indeed adapt and become a star at Anfield, former Liverpool player Saunders believes there are very much big questions still to be asked.

“My honest opinion watching the game yesterday, he comes on, he got through, he’s got to slip the ball across the pitch. He didn’t even see Salah. Salah’s just scored as well, he’s just got to give it him. He shoots cos he’s trying to get himself a goal, I mean I know how he feels, he’s trying to get himself going and off the mark at Liverpool,” Saunders said on TalkSPORT.

“The one positive is he looks like he can run. I think the jury’s out, the jury’s out. Whether he can fit into the class football that Liverpool play, whether he can fit in. Hopefully he does.”

TBR’s View: Nunez Needs Time At Liverpool

The big price tag won’t be helping Nunez but that’s what comes with the package when you join one of the biggest clubs in the world for big money.

The Uruguayan has had moments where he’s looked the business but in the main, it’s been more a case of disappointment than wow moments.

Nunez needs to simply buckle down and hope the tide turns. He scored a nice goal at Rangers in midweek and the ability is there. But Saunders is right to ask questions, especially after yesterday.
