137 TalkSPORT pundit Darren Bent believes Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips would jump at the chance of joining Liverpool in January.
The Englishman made a rare appearance for the treble winners last night, but that does not change the fact that he is surplus to requirements at the Etihad. He is expected to leave next month, and Liverpool have been linked with a move to sign him.

Kalvin Phillips has been at Manchester City for nearly 18 months now, but the midfielder hasn’t even played 900 minutes of football.
The Englishman, branded as an ‘unbelievable‘ player, is clearly not in Pep Guardiola‘s plans at the Etihad. The City boss opened the door for him to leave the club in January, and he will likely be a wanted man.
Newcastle United have been linked with a move to sign Phillips, while Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur are said to be interested too.
Liverpool are another club who are rumoured to be interested in the midfielder, and Darren Bent is adamant that a move to Anfield is the best option for Phillips.
He also believes the Manchester City midfielder would jump at the chance of joining the Reds next month.
When asked if Liverpool could be a potential destination for Phillips, Bent said on talkSPORT: “See that would be the best. If he got that option, he’d jump at that chance.”
Phillips would be a great signing for Liverpool
Liverpool are currently on top of the Premier League table, but they could still do with some help in the January transfer window.
Jurgen Klopp’s attack is fantastic, while his defence is doing a great job too. The one area of concern is defensive midfield, and the Reds are expected to address that next month.
Kalvin Phillips would be a fantastic signing for Liverpool. The midfielder is a proven commodity in the Premier League and has performed brilliantly for England as well.
If City would be willing to sell Phillips to Liverpool for a reasonable fee, the Reds should be all over this deal in next month’s transfer window.
