Liverpool assistant manager Pep Lijnders has confirmed that Reds forward Diogo Jota is edging closer and closer to returning from injury.
The Liverpool coach, speaking to the Reds media team ahead of the Carabao Cup meeting with West Ham, says Jota is “outside doing ball work”.
Jota picked up a hamstring injury in the 1-1 Premier League draw with title rivals Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on November 25.
The £140,000-a-week attacker (Salarysport) has been out since then, though has been ramping up his return in training over recent weeks.

However, he hinted that, after allowing another “two or three days” of recovery just to make sure, the 27-year-old should be good to go.
“Diogo is doing ball work on the pitch so that is getting closer and closer,” said Lijnders.
“But always with hamstring injuries you have to be careful, we always say when they come back give them another two or three days for sure.”
Diogo Jota such an important asset for Liverpool
Jota is a manager’s dream. He’s talented, works hard, has the right attitude even when not starting all the time, and hits the ground running whenever called upon.
This season, he has eight goals from 17 outings spanning 926 minutes of football. This shows how efficient he is and how you can count on him to come on and get you goals.
Jota has been a great servant to the Anfield club and, even though he’s having to make do as a squad rotation player, he can certainly be depended upon.
It’s good to hear he’s on the verge of returning and hopefully he can pick up from where he left off as the busy festive period continues to rumble on.
