Liverpool were in Europa League action on Thursday night as they sought to get off to a good start in their quarter-final tie.
The Reds hosted Italian outfit Atalanta at Anfield and, ahead of the game, the hosts would have certainly fancied their chances.
While Liverpool are flying high in the Premier League, their opponents are currently sixth in Serie A and have lost three of their last five.
However, the Reds ended up delivering a dismal display as Atalanta won convincingly on the night and built up a healthy advantage ahead of the return leg in Bergamo.

The Italian striker then made it 2-0 on the hour mark with another first-time finish, having been given all the space and time in the world by the Liverpool defence.
Things got even worse for the Reds as Mario Pasalic tapped in from Ederson’s strike, with the home defence static as the third goal went in.
Liverpool were extremely disappointing on the night, with many players putting in sub-par performances.
Sky Sports pundit Jay Bothroyd, covering the game on the channel, singled Cody Gakpo out for criticism.

Speaking early on in the second half, Bothroyd said on Sky Sports News: “Gakpo needs to get involved in the game. He hasn’t done much at all.”
The 24-year-old actually split opinion among Liverpool fans on social media, with some saying he was one of the least worst players on the night.
Gakpo clocked up some decent stats. As per Sofascore, he won 11 ground duels, completed five dribbles and made five key passes.
Nevertheless, no Liverpool player will be pleased with what happened on the night, and the Reds’ hopes of Europa League glory have diminished.
