Chris Sutton has issued his verdict on Jarell Quansah after his performance for Liverpool in the second-leg of their Carabao Cup tie with Fulham on Wednesday, and noticed how Virgil van Dijk reacted to one pass he played later in the game.
Liverpool booked their spot in the final where they will face Chelsea. They played out a 1-1 draw at Craven Cottage, with Luis Diaz opening the scoring in the first 11 minutes in the capital.
It was actually Jarell Quansah who provided the assist for the goal from the Colombian. And once again, the 20-year-old showed that he looks to be ready for first-team football in Jurgen Klopp’s side.

As shown by Whoscored, Quansah made seven clearances during the game. No player on either side managed to make more. Meanwhile, only Virgil van Dijk managed to complete more passes for Liverpool than the youngster.

“I’ve got to say young Quansah had an outstanding game alongside him [Van Dijk],” he said.
“He looks like he’s been around for years but looked very composed for someone so young.”
“He looks and he carries himself, he looks like he’s a highly intelligent lad.
“And he’ll learn a lot. I quite like that the fact that he has Virgil van Dijk alongside him.
“There was a moment towards the end of the game when Quansah got the ball and he clipped a percentage ball in behind on the diagonal and Virgil van Dijk went over to him and was applauding him, saying well done, you made the right decision at the right time, didn’t take a chance.
“There’s a time and a place to play and a time and a place to see the game through and for one so young he was very, very impressive and this is all part of the learning curve.”
Reds youngster developing at a rapid rate right now
Quansah is still learning and developing. However, it is remarkable how quickly he seems to have settled into the first-team fold at Anfield.
Trent Alexander-Arnold was amazed by Quansah’s Premier League debut display away at Newcastle. And he has managed to kick on in the months since.
A semi-final was a fantastic test for Quansah to come through, particularly after Fulham equalised on the night and put themselves within one goal of forcing extra time.
That experience is only going to stand him in good stead as Liverpool continue their fight to battle on four fronts this season.
