Jamie Carragher has been speaking about Manchester City v Liverpool this weekend and admitted to having concerns about Trent Alexander-Arnold.
The Liverpool right-back has once again been venturing into midfield this season. He has been lauded for his form as well, and has even played in midfield for England recently.
Alexander-Arnold has been producing the goods, especially in an attacking sense.
However, there are still concerns from some that he is not up to it defensively. And writing in his column for The Telegraph, Jamie Carragher has admitted Man City will be looking to target Trent.

Writing for The Telegraph, Carragher admitted to having a concern over Alexander-Arnold and believes City boss Guardiola will be looking to get at him.
“Where Klopp and his coaching staff have a match-defining tactical puzzle against a side of City’s class is maintaining the right balance between Trent’s attacking and defensive duties. My worry is even against weaker sides this has not been right,” Carragher said.
“Liverpool’s last Premier League away game was against Luton Town when they were fortunate to escape with a draw. Luton’s best player that day was Chiedozie Ogbene, who was under orders from the first whistle to attack the space down Liverpool’s left. This remains a theme – an easy, go-to strategy for opposing managers who identify a weakness to exploit, especially when counter-attacking. When Ibrahima Konaté plays at centre-back, Klopp has someone with the pace to cover Alexander-Arnold’s midfield positioning, but it remains an imperfect solution. Liverpool’s away form so far is poor, in stark contrast to their 100 per cent Anfield record.
“Guardiola will be zoning in on this. It is no coincidence that Grealish enjoyed one of his best games in a Manchester City shirt against Liverpool in April, relishing the space and time he was afforded on the left as he got the better of Alexander-Arnold in one-to-one duels.”
Point to prove for Liverpool’s top full-back
Carragher’s words here are spot in that the right-back position is something a number of clubs have looked to exploit against Liverpool.
However, this could be a big game for Trent to really show he is up to the job against the very best in the business. As Carragher says, the game against Luton did show that there is a weakness defensively.
But the best players come to the fore when it really matters and just like a few seasons ago, this feels like an enormous game for City and Liverpool.
Trent Alexander-Arnold will need to be at his very best. Jack Grealish is a nightmare to play against, but new signing Jeremy Doku is also proving a hit and he could be a big problem for the Liverpool man.
