A former Liverpool player has claimed that Mikel Arteta could deliver a double at Arsenal this season.
The narrative around Arsenal has shifted over the past few weeks as Mikel Arteta’s men have hit a brilliant run of form.
Arsenal struggled over the festive period, which saw them slip down to fourth in the table. But after five consecutive wins in the Premier League, they are firmly back in the hunt for the title.
The Gunners sit level on points with Manchester City and just one point behind league leaders Liverpool.
And ahead of their last-16 Champions League clash against Porto tonight, Dean Saunders has made a huge claim about Arteta’s chances of doing the double.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Saunders claimed that Arsenal are going ‘under the radar’ at the moment and feels they should not fear European teams in the Champions League.
“I think Arsenal are a really good team and they are going under the radar, I actually think they could win the double,” the former Liverpool man said.
“I don’t think they have anyone to fear apart from Man City, who are the best team in the world, but from abroad I don’t think they need to fear anyone.”

Arteta’s men slipped away towards the business end of the campaign and ultimately lost the title to Manchester City.
Yet, there seems to be a different resilience about Arteta’s side this time around.
The Gunners boast the best defence in the Premier League and are an exceedingly difficult side to beat.
Whether or not the possibility of securing double is a bit optimistic remains to be seen. But based on their recent displays, Arsenal are one of the most in-form sides in Europe right now.
