Caoimhin Kelleher has been fantastic for Liverpool as of late.
The Irishman has been brilliant, as ever, in the cups, while he’s also had to step in in the league after Alisson’s recent injury.
Kelleher has proven beyond any doubt that he’s capable of being a top-level goalkeeper, but, unfortunately, he’s probably never going to get a shot at being Liverpool’s number one as long as Alisson is there.
Speaking on the No Tippy Tappy Football Podcast, Kenny Dalglish has been discussing Kelleher’s role at Liverpool, and he says that the goalkeeper may well be frustrated by the fact he’s stuck as the Reds’ perennial number two.

Dalglish spoke about the goalkeeper’s situation.
“You have a young goalkeeper coming through who played fantastically well on Sunday, in the cup final. Two fantastic saves one on one, he’s not bad either. He was a midfield player until he was 15. It might be frustrating for him at the moment because Alisson if he’s fit will be first choice, but Kelleher is fantastic and he has a good record with penalties,” Dalglish said.
Frustrating
We agree with Dalglish here, Kelleher must be fed up.
At any other club at any other time, Kelleher’s recent form would have warranted an extended run in the team, but at Liverpool at this moment in time, he’s behind the best goalkeeper in the world, and arguably the best goalkeeper in Premier League history.
Alisson simply has to start when he’s fit, and that’s not a knock on Kelleher, but there’s only so long a player as talented as Kelleher can spend on the bench before he starts getting fed up of his situation.
Don’t be shocked if Kelleher looks for a move away from Liverpool come the summer.
