Everton manager Frank Lampard has admitted that Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson had a great game in today’s Merseyside Derby.

Both goalkeepers were outstanding in the 0-0 draw, with Jordan Pickford producing some great saves at the other end.

Speaking to BT Sport after the game, Lampard praised both Pickford and Alisson, and was happy with his side’s performance.

Lampard praises Alisson

“We held our own in the game in terms of possession and how we played. We had our chances,” he said.

“It showed both teams going toe to toe in a derby and it’s one of the best 0-0s you’ll see.

“Jordan had a great game. I thought both goalkeepers did. Jordan made great saves. You need your keeper to be on it in these sorts of games.

“I think Alisson also, from Dwight (McNeil), Maupay, double deflection, from different moments in the game. We kept our heads and played well.”

How about that for athleticism from Alisson? 💫

Liverpool’s £67 million (Sky Sports) man came up with the goods when they needed him and he is a big game player who has great experience.

Lampard is right about Everton’s overall performance, they did play well and on another day, they could have had more than just a point.

Pickford’s performance will also please Gareth Southgate as he offered a reminder of why he is England’s number one, and was every bit as good as Alisson.
