One of the Kop’s favorites is taking a big step in their post-playing career.
If you poll Liverpool fans of a certain age, you might learn that a certain Dane ranks high among the list of favorites to patrol the back-line. Daniel Agger’s blunt demeanor and passion on the pitch made him an easy player to get behind and when added to his classy ability to read the game and play a pass, it seems inevitable that the Anfield faithful would back him to the hilt.
It is no surprise that given his nous on the pitch that Agger might pursue a career manning the sidelines. And now, after his two-year stint as head coach of Danish 1st Division club HB Køge ended in 2023, the former Red has accepted a position on Morten Wieghorst’s staff for the Danish National Team.
The new Assistant Coach for the Danish Dynamite had this to say about their new role:
“I’m here to be able to give something to the players and make a difference. It’s about being able to contribute, and I’m sure that with my experience and my skills I have a lot to give to the team.”
Exciting times for Daniel Agger and I’m all Reds wish him the best of luck in this next step on his coaching journey.
