Liverpool are set for a summer of change, with several major outgoings from the Reds dugout and boardroom.

Obviously we all know Jurgen Klopp is set to leave Anfield at the end of the season. Meanwhile, Jorg Schmadtke left Liverpool earlier this year.

At the same time, the Reds – and owners Fenway Sports Group – have been busy making appointments to ensure continuity at Liverpool.

FSG recently appointed Michael Edwards as their CEO of Football, who in turn has secured the services of Richard Hughes as Liverpool‘s incoming Director of Football.

Could ‘world-class’ Liverpool man now be set for continental move?

Another key Reds figure who is set to leave the club is Pep Lijnders, Klopp’s assistant manager. He will be departing at the end of the season.

There have been reports linking the Dutchman with the Ajax head coach’s job.

And now, Fabrizio Romano has shared an update that could pave the way for him to go there in the summer.

The transfer insider took to X to relay what John van ‘t Schip has said regarding his future at the Johan Cruyff Arena.

“John van ‘t Schip will not continue as Ajax manager next season, decision confirmed,” wrote Romano.

“Ajax have already a shortlist with 4 candidates for new head coach.

““I’d like to contribute in the future but with a different role”, van ‘t Schip said.”

What has Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp said about Pep Lijnders?

Lijnders has been a key component of Liverpool’s Klopp era, and there’s no doubt he will go on to become a great head coach elsewhere.

“I will take the break, but the other boys are open and ready, let me say it like that,” Klopp told the Liverpool media team about his coaches after announcing his end-of-season departure.

“If somebody is ready and if somebody can say that then it’s me. They are ready.

“The impact the boys had over the years, and especially the impact Pep had in the last few years on the football we play, is second to none and it’s absolutely incredible.”

Ajax, who have won the Dutch title 36 times, have endured a difficult season, so they could certainly do with a revamp.

Let’s see what happens in the coming weeks or months, but there’s a good chance Lijnders could go there.
