Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was bursting with pride yesterday after seeing his injury hit side win the League Cup at Wembley.
The Reds left it as late as possible to snatch the winner through Virgil van Dijk, who headed home in the final minute of extra-time to send the Liverpool end into raptures.
Since the win, a lot has been made of the Liverpool youngsters who played their part in the win. Indeed, Klopp himself has lauded his talented teens, picking out the likes of Bobby Clark and others for their efforts.

And speaking on TalkSPORT this morning, former Red Phil Thompson felt it was quite amazing that Klopp entrusted those young players like he did.
Phil Thompson lauds Jurgen Klopp’s subs against Chelsea
Speaking about Klopp making those bold calls on TalkSPORT Breakfast today, Thompson admitted to being shocked by the German’s selections.
“And even yesterday, 86 minutes, he takes off Mac Allister, Gakpo, can’t remember who the other one was but you think what? Couldn’t you have waited until the 90th minute? But he believed that he was going to push them and he needed them, the other one was Andy Robertson. He needs those guys for the help next weekend in the league which is going to be as important. He had trust in the young boys, this was a win-win for Liverpool right throughout, but it was extraordinary, making those substitutions before the 90th minute was quite something. And I think it just shows the trust he has in the kids and the kids, he trusts me to go out there and do the job in the 86th minute, I’m going to go out there and perform,” Thompson said.
Klopp shows his class
There’s a reason Jurgen Klopp has been at the top for so long with Liverpool and this yesterday showed part of the reason why.
As Thompson says, Klopp showed he has full trust in all his squad and as Thompson also notes, that makes those players want to go out and do the business.
Liverpool are flying right now and even with all the injuries, look incredibly hard to beat.
For Klopp, seeing those young players flourish yesterday will have felt hugely rewarding. Now, he’ll hope they can use this success to kick on and go and win more when he’s gone in the summer.
