Micah Richards has now been having his say on the possibility of Liverpool or Arsenal beating Manchester City to the Premier League title this year.

After 25 games played, or 24 in City’s case, Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side sit proud at the top of the league with 57 points.

Mikel Arteta’s budding Arsenal project is just two points behind, and it’s clear that Pep Guardiola does have serious competition this year.

It’s been a rarity to have a three-horse title race in recent seasons, but it would be a surprise if any of the teams mentioned now dropped off.

Perhaps the fixtures between those three will now be the most crucial, with the next meeting between the sides coming at Anfield on March 10 when Man City come to visit.

All that considered, Micah Richards has been considering who he now thinks will win the league after another weekend of twists and turns.

Richards was speaking on ‘The Rest is Football’ podcast and thought City had serious competition from Liverpool and Arsenal this year.

However, when considering the level of Guardiola’s attacking play, the pundit still backed his old side for another title.

Micah Richards still backs Man City to beat Liverpool and Arsenal to Premier League title

Richards simply believed that City created too many chances to score in order to be beaten to the title.

And whilst Erling Haaland was fairly wasteful with those opportunities on Saturday – a complete anomaly, Richards didn’t seem to think that would start a trend.

He said: “I still back Man City to win it, just because of the chances they create. It’s going to be exciting.”

Of course, at this stage it really could still head in any direction, and the fixture mentioned will play a huge part.

Arsenal and Liverpool have now played each other twice, but otherwise each will face each other again.

Mikel Arteta’s side face a trip to the Etihad on March 31, proving what a crucial month it will be for the title race.

And given how Arsenal’s title-charge unravelled against Manchester City last season, it will be a big mental hurdle to overcome.

But currently sat top of the league, it would be an amazing story if Klopp were to add one more title in his final season at Liverpool.

All that being said, Gary Lineker has now been discussing the prospect of Klopp then immediately joining Bayern Munich after the campaign concludes.
