Matt Holland has given his verdict on the performance of Liverpool forward Diogo Jota against Bournemouth on Sunday.
The former Bournemouth midfielder has said that Liverpool and Portugal international forward Jota was “exceptional”.
So, what has Matt Holland said about Diogo Jota? Let’s take a look.
Praise for Liverpool forward Diogo Jota vs Bournemouth
Well, Liverpool beat Bournemouth 4-0 away from home in the Premier League on Sunday.
All four goals came in the second half. Diogo Jota scored two of them, first in the 70th minute and then on 79 minutes.
The £41 million (BBC Sport) Portugal international forward also provided an assist.
Former Bournemouth defender Matt Holland was following the match for PremierLeagueProductions, and he was impressed by the display produced by Jota.

“Diogo Jota has had a big say, set the first up and now he’s scored the second. Gakpo lays it into his path and he drills it in off the post, no chance for Neto. That should be game over and Liverpool going five points clear at the top of the Premier League.”
The pundit added after Jota scored Liverpool’s third goal: “Diogo Jota has been exceptional. Nunez times his runs, Conor Bradley is alive at that far post, he’s the quickest to react and has the awareness to pick out Jota, it’s superb.
“It falls kindly for Jota but he makes no mistake at the second attempt. He’s been the point of difference today for Liverpool, exceptional – two goals and an assist.”
My View: Diogo Jota could play a big role for Liverpool
In my opinion, Diogo Jota could play a big role for Liverpool in the coming weeks and months.
I believe that the former Wolverhampton Wanderers forward could be massive for the Reds in their quest to win the Premier League title this season.
Jota is not guaranteed a place in the Liverpool starting lineup, but he does tend to make a difference whenever he gets his chance.
The 27-year-old has made nine starts and six substitute appearances in the Premier League for Liverpool so far this season.
The Portugal international forward has scored seven goals and given two assists in those games. Jota has also scored three goals in three UEFA Europa League matches for the Merseyside club this campaign.
Meanwhile, Jamie Carragher has praised Alexis Mac Allister for his performance for Liverpool in the first half.
Carragher said on Sky Sports Premier League (5:25 pm, January 21, 2024): “I think Mac Allister has been Liverpool’s best player, Alexis Mac Allister in midfield.”
