191 Dietmar Hamann has claimed that Xabi Alonso is a better fit for Liverpool than Tottenham Hotspur’s Ange Postecoglou as the Reds continue their search for a new manager.
Jurgen Klopp announced last month that he will be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season. That is a massive blow, and FSG have a lot of work to do in the coming months as they look for his replacement. Alonso seems to be everybody’s preferred pick.

Replacing Jurgen Klopp will not be easy for Liverpool.
The German is one of the best managers the Premier League has ever seen. He has won almost everything at Anfield and has created a certain and identity at the club that will be difficult to follow.
A number of names have been linked with the Liverpool job already, and Xabi Alonso, who is doing a phenomenal job at Bayer Leverkusen, seems to be everyone’s favourite.
Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou’s name has also come up, but Dietmar Hamann believes 42-year-old Alonso would be far more ideal because Liverpool aren’t like any other club.
He told talkSPORT: “I think if anyone can do it, it’s Xabi. He’s loved by the people, he’s been a brilliant player and what he’s doing at Leverkusen is exceptional.
“Obviously, there’s a danger to going in after Klopp, the pressure and the expectations will be high, but I think they will have a team – if they keep them together – that competes for the Premier League next season.
“People talk about [Roberto] De Zerbi, [Ange] Postecoglou, Liverpool is different and he [Alonso] knows what the club is like, he’s loved by the fans, for me I think he would be the ideal choice. If he sees it the same way, I’m not too sure.”

Postecoglou would not be a bad option for Liverpool
Almost every Liverpool fan wants Xabi Alonso as their new manager, and we totally back that move if it would be possible this summer.
However, just in case Alonso is not gettable, we really think Ange Postecoglou would be a great option for the Reds.
The Australian has completely transformed Tottenham. Spurs were in a mess before he arrived, but they are now a really fun side to watch thanks to him.
What’s even better is the fact that Postecoglou was a ‘massive Liverpool supporter‘ while growing up, which means he definitely understands how special the club really is.
Tottenham would surely block any move from Liverpool for Postecoglou, but if there’s a way to get him, we think Liverpool should.
