ESPN pundit urges Liverpool to make 'nearly impossible' transfer move and sign 'world-class' attacker

Janusz Michallik has urged Liverpool to make a ‘nearly impossible’ move for Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe this month.

Liverpool have been long linked with a move for the Frenchman and could be in the market for a new attacker soon.

Mohamed Salah’s future remains unclear after the Reds turned down a £150 million offer from Al Ittihad for their talisman over the summer.

The interest from Saudi Arabia isn’t expected to go away though, with Salah being lined up for a possible summer move.

Despite the fact that Real Madrid seem to be favourites to land Kylian Mbappe, links to Liverpool seem to crop up every single transfer window.

Mbappe is expected to leave PSG over the coming months, with his deal set to expire over the summer.

The 25-year-old is now open to talk to clubs outside of Ligue 1 and even sign a pre-contract agreement ahead of the summer.

And Janusz Michallik believes Liverpool should be making an ambitious move for the World Cup winner.

Liverpool urged to make Mbappe move

Speaking on ESPN FC, Michallik was asked what his ‘dream’ signing for Liverpool would be this month.

“Kylian Mbappe,” the pundit said. “Look, I know it’s nearly impossible but this rumour won’t die. You know what happens when it won’t die.

“Real Madrid are obviously going to be favourites but they better pull that trigger soon, somehow. With Liverpool, obviously, the big issue is financially.

“I don’t know how Liverpool and FSG would ever go for something like that. Even his salary, there would be a long line from Jurgen Klopp’s office from everyone else on that team.

“But this rumour just won’t die and Liverpool is one of the best teams in the world, historically and now, I think they should be in for players like that even if it’s just pretending they want it.

“They should be out there saying yeah, if it’s workable we get him.”

There’s no denying that Mbappe is a ‘world-class’ player and he would certainly be the perfect replacement for Salah should the Egyptian move on.

Despite his excellent goalscoring record at PSG, Mbappe has endured a frustrating spell in the French capital.

The Frenchman has openly admitted his desire to win the Champions League and the Ballon d’Or. But whether or not he can achieve that at PSG remains to be seen.

It looks more likely that he’ll seek a fresh challenge over the coming months, with Real Madrid widely viewed as the favourites.

Nevertheless, Michallik makes a great point that it would surely be worth Liverpool at least throwing their hat into the ring to sign him, especially as he’ll be available on a free transfer.
