'Drives me insane': Steve Nicol slams £34m Liverpool player for the amount of 'errors' he makes in games

Steve Nicol might have seen his beloved Liverpool win yesterday but he was not so happy with one player for the errors he kept making.

Liverpool got past Brighton to win 2-1 and go top of the table after Arsenal and Man City played out a dull 0-0 draw in the later kick off.

Goals from Luis Diaz and then Mo Salah ensured it was another big three points for the Reds, who now have the title in their hands to lose.

For Salah, it was a game where he had the most shots he’s ever had in a Premier League game. But in the end, he managed just the one goal as he missed a number of chances.

And speaking about Salah, former Liverpool man Nicol has admitted he drives him mad.

Steve Nicol on why Mo Salah drives him ‘insane’

Of course, Salah came up trumps in the end with the winning goal and that’s all that matters really.

But speaking on ESPN, Nicol has said that Salah drives him mad with the amount of chances he misses and the mistakes he makes with the ball.

“Oh my goodness, he absolutely drives me insane. I’ve never seen a player so good make so many errors, I mean it just drives you crazy. In the second half, Elliott who’s just come on, he’s wide on the right acres of space and Salah tries to pass it to him and he skewed it and it hit the Brighton defender on the knee. It sums him up sometimes.

“He always does [have a lot of shots] and surprise surprise he scores the winning goal. And surprise surprise he scores the winning goal. You’d put your money on him to score but you’d also put your money on him to give the ball away the most, it drives me crazy,” Nicol said.

Ian Wright had also suggested Salah looked a bit ‘rusty’ in the game as he missed a number of chances in the first half.

But come the end of 90 minutes, it was Salah’s goal that got Liverpool over the line.

And at the end of the day, if they win the title, that’s what will matter.
