Brighton forward Evan Ferguson has now shared why he turned down the chance to join Liverpool as a youngster.

Speaking to Stadium Astro, Ferguson was asked why he chose to join Brighton after training with Liverpool

Evan Ferguson has made a huge impact in the Premier League over the past year under Roberto De Zerbi.

The 19-year-old has netted five goals in 11 appearances for the Seagulls this term and is already attracting interest from a host of top clubs, including Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Indeed, Tottenham are reportedly tracking the talented striker, with Brighton set to demand at least £100 million.

And Ferguson has now shared why he turned down the opportunity to move to Anfield before joining Brighton from Irish outfit Bohemians in 2021.

Ferguson shares why he joined Brighton over Liverpool

Speaking to Stadium Astro, Ferguson was asked: “I think you spoke about visiting Liverpool as well and having training trials there. Were there other clubs you were exploring?”

“Yeah, there were a few,” he responded. “I think they were all good but I think Brighton just had a different feel to it.”

Ferguson looks set for a bright future in the Premier League and it wouldn’t be surprising to see him secure a big move over the next couple of years.

Of course, it seems unlikely at this stage that the Reds would break the bank to sign the Irish star.

Liverpool spent big on Darwin Nunez last summer and also snapped up Cody Gakpo back in January. But Klopp’s men will surely regret missing out on Ferguson as he looks set to be the next star in the Premier League.

It’s still early days in terms of Ferguson’s career. But he boasts a brilliant goal return for a player who only made his debut for Brighton last season.
