'Devastating player': Rio Ferdinand says there's one Liverpool man who has gone under the radar this season

Rio Ferdinand has heaped praise on Liverpool star Mohamed Salah after his tremendous start to the season.

The Egyptian is one of the best players in the Premier League. He’s arguably one of the greatest ever, but for one reason or another, he doesn’t get the credit he deserves. Ferdinand thinks he knows why.

Rio Ferdinand says Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah is a ‘devastating player’

Liverpool have had a brilliant start to the season and are currently second in the table, just a point behind defending Premier League champions Manchester City.

As always, the Reds’ best player has been Mohamed Salah.

The Egypt international has scored 12 goals and provided four assists in all competitions this season. That is an incredible return, but hardly anyone is talking about his performances.

Rio Ferdinand thinks Salah’s brilliance this season, like Liverpool’s, is going under the radar because people just expect both of them to deliver.

The Manchester United legend said on FIVE: “Liverpool, they have gone under the radar a little bit. It’s because they were so good for a couple of years, they had one year off and people expect them to come back.

“I think it’s a bit like Mo Salah, I think he has got the second most goal involvements in the league this year after Erling Haaland – I think it’s 14 – but he is expected to produce 30-goal-a-season seasons. That’s just a part of it.

“He is a devastating player by the way.”

Salah could lead Liverpool to glory

Mohamed Salah is one of the best players in the world, nobody can dispute that.

16 direct goal contributions in as many games in the Premier League and the Europa League is a tremendous return, and there’s no reason why he will not continue at the same rate.

If Salah does end up directly contributing to over 50 goals this term – he managed 46 last season – Liverpool have every chance of winning a few trophies.

They are already the favourites to win the Europa League, and if Manchester City and Arsenal slip up, there’s every chance they could lift the Premier League title at the end of this season as well.
