Liverpool have been linked with a move for Kalvin Phillips in recent days.
This is a rumour that surfaced in the summer as the Reds were scrambling to find a new holding midfielder.
The Merseyside club would ultimately end up signing Wataru Endo to fill that role for the time being, but, as of yet, the Japan international hasn’t really been up to scratch.
Meanwhile, Phillips has continued to struggle for minutes at the Etihad, and the Liverpool rumours have resurfaced.
However, writing for Caught Offside, Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Liverpool may not actually be in for Phillips, stating that the Reds’ transfer plans aren’t being finalised just yet and that it’s very quiet around Anfield right now.

Romano shared what he knows about the Man City midfielder.
“As previously mentioned, it’s looking increasingly likely for Kalvin Phillips to leave Manchester City this January, but I’m not aware of any negotiation with Liverpool at this stage, despite what’s been reported elsewhere. It’s very quiet around Liverpool as of now, no decision will be made in October for their transfer plans in the January window – it will be decided later this year.”

Whether or not Liverpool do actually go in for Phillips remains to be seen, but one thing is for sure, the midfielder needs a move away from the Etihad.
He’s barely getting a game, his manager doesn’t trust him, and, in all honesty, he’s too talented to be rotting on the bench.
There are plenty of Premier League clubs that would make Phillips a key part of their team, and The Yorkshire Pirlo should be trying to force a move in January before his career is damaged any further.
