Curtis Jones is really coming into his own at Liverpool this season.
The Reds added a number of new midfielders to the squad in the summer, and that added competition has seemingly forced Jones to find a new level.
The 22-year-old was absolutely brilliant against West Ham in the week, and that’s the latest in a growing list of strong performances this season.
Interestingly, according to James Pearce, speaking on The Athletic Football Podcast, Liverpool’s staff are always keen to see more from Jones.
According to the journalist, Klopp and his staff are always demanding more from Jones as they believe he has an incredibly high ceiling and they want to see him at his best week-in, week-out.

Pearce shared what he knows about the midfielder.
“That’s the way with Klopp and his staff with Curtis Jones, they’re always demanding more because they know that he has such a high ceiling and they want to see it week-in, week-out and Klopp speaks about how much of a difference it makes when Jones does things at pace rather than taking touches and slowing things down,” Pearce said.
Has what it takes
It’s not surprising to hear that Liverpool’s staff are pushing Jones, because, as Pearce says, his ceiling is so high.
Players don’t reach the very top unless they are pushed, and Jones seemingly has the right people behind him pushing him to go all the way.
It can be seen as being given a bit of a rough ride, but at the end of the day, sometimes tough love is what you need.
Jurgen Klopp only ever acts in the best interests of his players, and while Jones may, at times, get a bit weighed down by the fact he’s being pushed so hard, it will do him good in the long run.
