The fallout from the winner has been massive, with Nottingham Forest’s owner, manager, and newly appointed ‘consultant’, Mark Clattenberg, all having a go after the game.
However, nothing can take the three points away from Liverpool now, who sit top of the table ahead of both Arsenal and Manchester City playing this weekend.
For Liverpool, the obvious plaudits went to both Nunez for the goal and Alexis Mac Allister for the assist.
But over on social media, the likes of Nunez, Mac Allister, and Luis Diaz were all down in the comments for their captain Virgil van Dijk, who put in yet another imperious performance.
Van Dijk has been nothing short of superb this season and after posting on Instagram, his teammates were only too keen to show him some love.

The Dutchman is back in monster mode for Jurgen Klopp and alongside Ibou Konate, has built a solid partnership that is really flourishing at Anfield now.
Van Dijk has developed at Liverpool into being an absolute top leader and his performances in defence are becoming equally important as the forwards for the Reds.
With Liverpool now steaming towards a title push and having already won a cup, there’s a real chance for Van Dijk to become a legend among Liverpool captains.
Performances like the one today will help the Reds’ cause no end and while goals win games, so do clean-sheets.
Van Dijk, then, is simply imperative to Liverpool’s chances of success.
