Pundit Danny Murphy has now been discussing the possibility of Arsenal and Liverpool winning the Premier League title this year.
Murphy was speaking on the BBC’s Match of the Day 2 and began by discussing the forward options at disposal of each side.

Murphy said: “I think they have five players in attacking areas all competing for three places and I think their fire power is probably a bit better than Arsenal’s in my opinion.
“They have more options in the final third which might be the defining factor.
“The concern for Liverpool and Arsenal is if City do what they have tended to do most seasons and get better as the second half of the season comes to us.
“They are very rarely top at this stage and if they go up another couple of gears, can Liverpool and Arsenal stay with them? I hope so but we never know.”
Of course, both Liverpool and Arsenal have already learned this lesson the hard way in recent years.
Murphy questions whether Arsenal and Liverpool can stick with Man City this season
Arsenal were eventually gazumped to the title by City last season, who didn’t run out of steam when Mikel Arteta’s side waivered.
William Saliba’s injury was a huge factor, but losing so much ground can not be blamed on that alone.

Similarly, Liverpool do now have the excellent Dominik Szoboszlai, and Virgil van Dijk’s return to top form is probably even more important than a new signing.
Murphy is right to point out that Man City will be incredibly tough to beat, but both Arsenal and Liverpool are probably quietly confident.
Perhaps the January transfer window could play a part, with Arsenal now eyeing a £15m midfielder.
And Liverpool are also considered favourites for a £44m midfielder themselves.
It’s going to be a fascinating title race, and one that should really start to take shape over the busy festive period.
