'Currently quiet': Liverpool are not pushing to appoint 'genius' manager at this stage - Fabrizio Romano

Liverpool have been linked with a number of managers in recent weeks, and Fabrizio Romano has shared the latest on one of them.

Jurgen Klopp won’t be around for much longer. The German announced back in January that he will be leaving the club at the end of this season.

Liverpool will certainly miss him, but their focus now has to be on appointing a top-class manager to fill the massive void Klopp will leave this summer.

The rumour mill has been very active over the last few weeks, but one manager who has been linked with the Liverpool job is actually not under serious consideration to succeed Klopp, claims Romano.

Fabrizio Romano shares update on Liverpool-linked manager

The Liverpool job is one of the biggest roles in football.

The Reds are among the biggest clubs in the world, and becoming the manager of Liverpool is a real honour for anybody out there.

Xabi Alonso was viewed as the favourite for the job, but he publicly announced that he will not be moving to Anfield at the end of the season.

Ruben Amorim and Roberto De Zerbi have been heavily linked, and they’re both very good managers who are destined to end up at big clubs one day.

Another man who has been linked with the Liverpool job is Inter Milan boss Simone Inzaghi.

The Italian is an incredible manager and his side are currently on top of the Serie A table. He led Inter to the Champions League final last season as well.

Inzaghi would be a great option for many clubs in the world, but are Liverpool keen to appoint him as Jurgen Klopp’s successor? Fabrizio Romano has the answer.

The journalist wrote in his Daily Briefing: “Another name for the Liverpool job coming up in reports is Simone Inzaghi.

“However, I’m not aware of anything concrete so far on this one, also because Inzaghi is fully focused on Inter and on winning the Serie A title.

“My understanding is also that Inter will offer him new deal in the upcoming weeks, so the situation is currently quiet; let’s see if he will receive concrete proposals.”

Comparing Simone Inzaghi’s stats vs Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool

Simone Inzaghi is one of the best managers in Italy right now.

The 47-year-old has done a remarkable job at Inter Milan since he became their boss in 2021. He is on the verge of winning the Serie A title this season, which would be a great achievement.

However, how does his numbers fare when compared to that of Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool?

Inzaghi, who Thierry Henry called a ‘genius’, has managed 150 games at Inter Milan and has won 100 of them, losing and drawing 25 each. His side have scored 297 goals, conceded 126 and average 2.17 points per game.

Klopp, on the other hand, has managed many more games at Liverpool – 478 to be exact.

His record stands at 299 wins, 97 draws and just 82 defeats. The Reds have scored 1068 goals and conceded 533 in that period and average 2.08 points per game.
