Trent Alexander-Arnold has been incredible for Liverpool over the past two weeks.
The 25-year-old has single-handedly won four points for the Reds with three goals in his last two games, and he’s rightfully earning all sorts of plaudits.
Of course though, as ever, Alexander-Arnold’s attacking contributions are being downplayed due to his defensive deficiencies.
Indeed, Jeremy Doku gave him the runaround against Manchester City, while two of Fulham’s goals at the weekend came from down that flank.
Speaking on Premier League Productions, Leroy Rosenior has been discussing Alexander-Arnold’s defending, and he’s stated that it can’t go on like this, claiming that the full-back could ultimately end up costing Liverpool the title.

Rosenior shared his verdict on the defender.
“I will say, maybe the reason they keep going behind is this hybrid position that Trent is playing, he’s fantastic going forwards, but when they lose the ball, especially against Fulham, they exploit that left side and it caused Liverpool a lot of problems and that could cost them the title if they don’t sort it out,” Rosenior said.
Alexander-Arnold’s attacking could win Liverpool the title
This is very much a double-edged sword.
On one hand, Alexander-Arnold’s defending isn’t up to scratch, and that could cost Liverpool. However, at the same time, his attacking output is so great that he’s single-handedly saving games for the Reds.
Alexander-Arnold is a truly brilliant player, and, make no mistake about it, his presence in this Liverpool team is a net positive.
Is his defending his strong suit? Of course it isn’t, but at the same time, he’s a fantastic player who will have a huge part to play if Liverpool are indeed to go on and win the Premier League title this season.
