The race to sign Joao Palhinha in January is heating up.
Bayern Munich were moments away from signing the Portuguese midfielder in the summer, while Arsenal and Liverpool are also said to be keen on the Fulham star.
According to Christian Falk, speaking to CaughtOffside, Liverpool are concretely interested in Palhinha, and their interest is causing issues for Bayern Munich.

Falk shared what he knows about the £17m man.
“Bayern heard that Liverpool are concretely interested in Joao Palhinha so things are getting complicated already ahead of the January transfer window,” Falk said.
“They don’t have the money at the moment to commit to many big transfers and signing a centre-back is the priority.
“So, perhaps they might move away from the idea of signing him in the winter if Liverpool are also involved in the poker.
“They do have one alternative in mind in Martin Zubimendi of Real Sociedad. He could be the next choice if Palhinha is off the market.”
Liverpool have the edge
We can understand why Liverpool’s interest is causing issues for Bayern Munich. After all, they may well have the edge in this race.
Palhinha has taken to life in the Premier League like a duck to water, while Liverpool do have the money to do this kind of deal after their failed bid for Moises Caicedo in the summer.
Of course, money isn’t everything in this game, it does help in these situations when you’re trying to convince a club to part with their star player.
Make no mistake about it, Fulham won’t want to sell Palhinha, but if Liverpool come in and blow Bayern Munich’s bid out of the water, there’s only one place he’s ending up.
This is certainly a situation to keep an eye on heading into January.
