Virgil van Dijk has now revealed that he regrets what he did in the Liverpool dressing room recently.
The 32-year-old made the comments during an interview with Voetbal International.
So, what does Liverpool No.4 Virgil van Dijk regret doing? Let’s take a look…

Well, the Netherlands international was filmed saying “they thought I was finished” after helping Liverpool win the Carabao Cup in February.
Van Dijk scored a 118th minute winner to secure a 1-0 victory over Chelsea at Wembley, earning the Man of the Match award for his efforts.
However, the Dutchman has now revealed that he regrets saying “they thought I was finished” – as he feels he has created more “noise” around his personal situation than he would ideally like there to be.

I shouldn’t have done that, because it now seems as if that negative period really hit me hard. Of course it probably did, in moments, but my point was that many people do not realise how complex an anterior cruciate ligament and an inner ligament injury is, and that you don’t just get back to the level you were at before.
“That’s where that emotion came from. I’m annoyed by the unnecessary sounds I create myself. I don’t like noise around me at all, I prefer people talking about the match. You can call it human what I did, I think it was clumsy of me. It distracted from what we are doing and what I want, to have a top season with the club and play the best year of my life.”
Van Dijk – who is in line to receive a new contract at Anfield – has made 36 appearances in all competitions so far this season, scoring four goals while also providing two assists.
Football is a game of emotions
We think Van Dijk should stop beating himself up about his comment.
Football is an emotional game, and a cruciate ligament injury like the one suffered by Liverpool’s colossal defender is enough to make even the strongest player worry about their career.

Hopefully, the £75m man can bring more silverware to Anfield this season, as Liverpool still have the Premier League and the UEFA Europa League to play for.
