'Class': Curtis Jones and Conor Bradley left amazed by 19-year-old Liverpool player yesterday

Curtis Jones and Conor Bradley have reacted to James McConnell’s first start for Liverpool in the FA Cup yesterday.

The Reds picked up a 5-2 win over Norwich City on Sunday and Jurgen Klopp handed McConnell an opportunity to impress.

McConnell started alongside Ryan Gravenberch and Curtis Jones in midfield, with the youngster linking up with the latter for Liverpool’s opener.

The 19-year-old delivered an exceptional ball into the box which was finished expertly by Jones to hand Liverpool an early lead.

The talented youngster got 79 minutes under his belt before receiving a standing ovation from the home supporters.

And it would seem that McConnell has also impressed his teammates Conor Bradley and Jones.

McConnell took to Instagram to express his delight after marking his first start for Liverpool with an assist. 

He wrote: “First start, first assist, into the next round. Appreciate all the support.”

A host of Liverpool players flocked beneath the post to congratulate the youngster, including the likes of Harvey Elliott, Ryan Gravenberch and Jarrell Quansah.

Bradley, who also impressed against Norwich yesterday, responded: “Class bro.”

And Jones replied: “Player,” alongside a fire emoji.

Liverpool have a host of talented youngsters coming through the ranks at the moment, with three of them starting against Norwich yesterday.

McConnell grabbed an assist from midfield while Bradley continues to impress at right-back, registering two assists at Anfield yesterday.

Quansah also started alongside Ibrahima Konate at centre-back and was later partnered by skipper Virgil van Dijk.

Klopp will undoubtedly be encouraged by the performances of the academy products, who already look as if they belong at this level.

It’s early days for McConnell after making his first start for the club. But with Quansah and Bradley getting plenty of minutes recently, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see McConnell get another opportunity in the near future, particularly in the Europa League.
