'Changed the game': Pundit so impressed by how 'powerful' Liverpool player looked against Forest

Stewart Robson has named the Liverpool player he felt changed the game as the Reds needed a stoppage-time winner to beat Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

Liverpool secured a huge victory in the Premier League title race. They rode their luck at times at the City Ground. But when the time came, Alexis Mac Allister produced a moment of magic to cross the ball for Darwin Nunez in the 99th minute of the contest.

And the Uruguayan made no mistake, getting enough contact on the ball to divert it into the bottom corner and infuriate the Forest fans.

Darwin Nunez changed the game for Liverpool

Nunez was not fit enough to start against Nuno Espirito Santo’s side. But anyone who watched the striker leap over the barrier as Liverpool went on to win the Carabao Cup final last week would have felt that there was a good chance that he would be involved against Forest at some stage.

And Jurgen Klopp did bring him on the hour-mark. Nunez went on to get nearly a full half of football under his belt before heading home the winner.

And speaking on ESPN, Stewart Robson outlined what a big boost it is for Liverpool to have Nunez back in the fold.

“It’s a good header. Nunez changed the game when he came on I thought. He looked more powerful, he ran in behind. He ran down the side of defenders. They need him at centre forward more often than not,” he said.

Reds keep finding way to win

Liverpool have been decimated by so many injuries to so many key players this season. The likes of Conor Bradley and Bobby Clark started against Forest. Meanwhile, Jayden Danns came off the bench.

Nunez is now into double figures for league goals this season. And he has been directly involved in 17 goals in 25 league games. He has scored six times since Boxing Day in the top-flight.

And Liverpool will only take a huge amount of belief from picking up another victory while they wait for more of their most important players to return to full fitness.
