Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher praised Reds ace Darwin Nunez for his role in Mohamed Salah’s goal against Manchester City on Thursday night.
Jurgen Klopp’s charges headed to the Etihad Stadium for a huge Carabao Cup last-16 tie in their first competitive match after the World Cup.
After the drama of the Argentina v France final, Liverpool and City served up a similarly thrilling encounter.

Liverpool were level nine minutes later, James Milner squaring for Fabio Carvalho to slot into the far corner.
Nothing separated the two teams at half-time, despite serving up plenty of end-to-end football.
But shortly after the restart, City took the lead again.
Riyad Mahrez curled home a superb effort from Rodri’s equally great delivery.
Liverpool had to wait just a minute before drawing level for the second time in the game.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain released Nunez to dart down the left flank and set up Salah for a composed finish.
“It’s brilliant from Nunez and the composure from Salah is fantastic,” Carragher said on Sky Sports (22/12, 21:07).
“l don’t think he was expecting that pass!”
However, Liverpool were caught out at the back once again as City weighed in with a third.
De Bruyne whipped in a superb ball at the back post which Nathan Ake headed home with little difficulty.
And despite Nunez doing well to assist Salah for his goal, he spurned far too many chances for Liverpool.

“He has to put one of these chances away,” exclaimed Carragher (22/12, 21:31).
“Of the three chances he has had, you would expect one goal.”
If Roberto Firmino is set to miss the festive period due to injury, Nunez’s form will be crucial, and he needs to find his clinical edge again.
