The Liverpool FC Women defender is hard as nails
Gemma Bonner was injured in Liverpool FC Women’s tough win away at Manchester United this weekend, and the tough defender has made light of the aftermath on Twitter:
Went to Manchester, got my lips done, left with +3 points
Thank you for all the messages, a concussion + a few more stitches to add to my collection but I am healing up and really feeling the love
Merry Christmas Reds ❤️❤️ @LiverpoolFCW pic.twitter.com/uHxa4OYkyD
Bonner was injured in a clash of heads on Saturday, which led to a loss of consciousness and a laceration. With swift help from the home medical staff, Bonner is making a smooth recovery, per LFC Women club doctor Amelia Woodhouse:
“Gemma lost consciousness temporarily and suffered a facial laceration during the incident.
“After treatment she was able to walk off the pitch with the assistance of medical staff and taken into the medical room at Leigh for further assessment.
“She was attended to by the doctor and received a number of stitches around her lip for the laceration. She is now following concussion protocols under the supervision of the club medical team.”
