Well, Liverpool took on Premier League rivals Arsenal away from home at the Emirates Stadium in North London in the third round of the FA Cup on Sunday.
Curtis Jones started the match for Liverpool. Manager Jurgen Klopp deployed the 22-year-old on the left of a midfield-three in a 4-3-3 formation.
In the build-up to the FA Cup tie, former Liverpool midfielder and BBC Sport pundit Danny Murphy spoke highly of Jones and outlined the attributes that make him so special.
Murphy said about Jones on BBC One (4:13 pm, January 7, 2024): “Super talent. Very disciplined. Very rarely gives the ball away, can take the ball in really pressurised situations.
“I think he is a midfielder. I think he has got the physicality to do it, the legs, the lungs, if you like the Klopp dynamic that you need, and he can get the odd goal. I think he is emerging as a really confident young player who is going to have a big future.”
My View: Curtis Jones a potential Liverpool superstar
In my opinion, Curtis Jones is one of the best young midfielders around and could be a superstar for Liverpool.
Jones is only 22 now, but the Englishman is already making a big impact at Liverpool. He has made seven starts and five substitute appearances in the Premier League this season. The midfielder has scored one goal and given one assist in those games.
Pundit Robbie Mustoe has been impressed by Jones this season. Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo has also raved about the midfielder and how he does in training.
Jones is coming into his own this season, and even at the age of 22, he is playing like a player with a wealth of experience.
