Manchester United and Liverpool are reportedly after a player Fabrizio Romano has described as “one of the best talents in the world”.

Over the past few days, the Red Devils are said to have joined Jurgen Klopp’s Reds in pursuit of Lille defender Leny Yoro.

This week, journalist Fabrice Hawkins reported that Man United have made an official approach for the 18-year-old prodigy.

In December, Le10 Sport claimed that Liverpool are ‘drooling’ over the prospect of signing Yoro and are ‘determined to play a role’ in his future.

As well as the Red Devils and the Reds, the likes of Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are apparently in pursuit of the teenage talent.

Now, Romano has provided an update on the state of play involving Yoro and his high-profile suitors on CaughtOffside.

Manchester United and Liverpool target Leny Yoro ‘a name to watch for the summer’

The transfer insider has claimed that Lille feel there is “going to be a big fight” for the defender’s signature this summer.

And with Yoro’s contract expiring in the summer of 2025, the summer will be the last chance Lille will be able to command a big fee for the youngster.

“Leny Yoro could be a name to watch for the summer,” wrote Romano.

“The talented young Lille centre-back is now represented by Jorge Mendes, one of the best agents in the world.

“And Yoro is really one of the best talents in the world, he really is a fantastic centre-back.

“For Lille, the idea is to keep the player until the end of the season, because they feel in the summer there is going to be a big fight between top clubs to sign Yoro.

“Real Madrid have been in attendance multiple times to watch Yoro – they really like this boy, so let’s see if they will be in the race this summer.

“For sure they are scouting the player, and also the new people in charge at Manchester United, with INEOS having an excellent relationship with Jorge Mendes.

“PSG also know Yoro very well as he’s playing in Ligue 1 – since last summer they’ve been following him, so they are there too.

“It could be a big fight for Yoro, that’s what’s expected, and Lille want crazy money, but his contract expires in 2025 so it looks like one to watch.”

In terms of a ballpark price tag, it has been reported that Lille could be looking for €80-90million (£69-78million) this month, or €50-60million (£43-52million) in the summer.

Leny Yoro is an ‘extraordinary’ talent

Based on his current trajectory, Yoro really looks like he could become a star for a big club like Manchester United or Liverpool (or indeed Real or PSG).

The 6ft 3in talent turned 18 just over two months ago, but he already has 39 appearances for Lille under his belt, as well as four France Under-21 caps.

Thierry Henry, who manages the France Under-21s, has sung Yoro’s praises in recent months.

“What he is doing is extraordinary,” Henry said in November, via Le10Sport. “Another young player who is having good matches.

“Warren Zaire-Emery attracts a little more attention by being at PSG, playing in the Champions League, he has just joined the A.

“But it’s true that Leny is doing a huge job at the moment.”
