Darwin Nunez is a player who really divides opinion at Liverpool.
In the eyes of some, the Uruguayan is a raw talent who has the ability to reach the very top, but in the eyes of others, he’s a wasteful striker who lacks the composure to reach the top level.
The truth is probably somewhere in the middle, and writing in his column for Caught Offside, Stan Collymore has now shared his verdict on the striker and what he needs to do to become a star at Liverpool.

Collymore spoke about the £70m man, claiming that he needs to change his game to become more of a creator, stating that if he can’t do that, he may be best off leaving Liverpool.
“Me? I had to completely change my game to adapt to Robbie Fowler who I knew who would outscore me, so I created a lot for him while scoring at a good rate too,” Collymore wrote.
“If Nunez can do that then he has a chance to be a resounding success for several years at Liverpool, but if he doesn’t, then for him and the club he’s better off moving because there’s nowhere to hide at Liverpool and the intensity of the analysis isn’t going anywhere.”
Darwin Nunez needs to change
Collymore is right, something in Nunez’s game has to change.
Running around like a bull in a china shop just isn’t working. Yes, Nunez causes chaos and confuses defenders, but you need more than that at the very top level.
Nunez needs to refine his game and improve on the finer aspects of football, he needs to have a better touch and he needs to get better when it comes to making decision.
Nunez won’t have long to impress his new manager next season, and if he can’t adapt, he could well be on the chopping block.
