Paul Merson has expressed his desire to see Liverpool ace Trent Alexander-Arnold play in midfield.
The pundit was writing on Sportskeeda, where he ranked his top five midfielders in the Premier League.
Alexander-Arnold is obviously a right-back, and one of the best in the world at that.

That said, Alexander-Arnold’s passing skills rarely get any criticism – he is a superb passer of the ball.
Even though Merson was writing about midfielders, he gave the Anfield star a mention.
He compared Alexander-Arnold’s passing skills to those of Kevin De Bruyne and hoped he’d get a runout in midfield in future.
Trent Alexander-Arnold played as a midfielder in his younger days at Liverpool and also did so once for England,” Merson wrote on Sportskeeda.
“It’s a difficult position as the game literally goes through you, so you need to be a lot more involved over the course of the 90 minutes.
“His passing range is up there with the best in the country along with De Bruyne, so I’d like to see him play in midfield at some point in the future.”

Earlier this year, Alexander-Arnold gave an interview to The Guardian this week where he discussed his style of play.
“I play the game at my own pace and if I need a little more time to find the right option, I’ll do that,” said Alexander-Arnold. “The main thing for me is I always feel I can see things others can’t see.
“And the more you can see, the more options you have. I would say being able to judge the right option, and which one hurts the opposition most, is something I’ve got that other people don’t have.”
