Liverpool forward Darwin Nunez helped the Reds return to the top of the Premier League table on Saturday.
The Reds ace scored his side’s third goal against Burnley at Anfield to put the game out of the visitors’ reach.
In the 79th minute of the match, Nunez nodded home from a Harvey Elliott cross after the visitors failed to clear their lines.
BBC Sport pundit Glenn Murray, covering the Liverpool v Burnley clash on Final Score, praised the Uruguay international.
Photo by Justin Setterfield/Getty Images“That is the second best header we have seen at Anfield today,” he said, making a reference to Dara O’Shea’s superb first-half effort.
“Harvey Elliott plays the ball across from the right hand side and it arrives just behind Darwin Nunez.
“But the forward manages to stretch and angle his body to flick the ball into the bottom corner.
“Frustrating at times today but he’s so loved at Anfield!”
‘Agent of chaos’ Darwin Nunez strikes again for Liverpool
That’s a pretty fair assessment of Nunez. Yes, there are times when he can be frustrating, but he works hard, gets goal contributions, and causes havoc among the opposition defence.
The 24-year-old struggled somewhat in the first half, save for the odd ball flashed across the box, and didn’t get many touches in the opposition half.
However, Darwin improved after the break, and alongside getting Liverpool’s third, he could’ve also had a second, going clean through on goal, but he fired straight at James Trafford.
With five goals and four assists from his last 10 games, and 12 goals and 11 assists for the season, he’s doing pretty well for the league leaders.
Liverpool are next in action in a week’s time, playing away at Brentford in Saturday’s 12:30pm kickoff.
The Reds will also be in cup action twice over the coming weeks, facing Chelsea in the Carabao Cup final on 25 February before hosting Southampton in the last 16 of the FA Cup three days later.
