All of a sudden, there’s a bit of an inquest on at Liverpool.
Indeed, after such a solid season from the Reds, the Merseyside club’s form seems to be slipping away, and so do their title hopes.
A loss to Crystal Palace this weekend was the latest in a run of rather poor results, and, as you can imagine, fingers are now being pointed around Anfield.
Speaking on Premier League Productions, Tim Sherwood has been discussing some of Liverpool’s ongoing issues, and he’s stated that he’s not sure about the Reds’ £85m player.

Sherwood has been discussing Liverpool’s recent issues and Darwin Nunez’s wastefulness.
“We’ve never really looked at them like we look at Arsenal in the past and say they need a striker because Salah gets the goals and Jota has been fantastic, but Nunez is not the answer, I like him as a player, he causes havoc, but his finishing is bang average, he’s erratic with his finishing and it’s always power,” Sherwood said.
Darwin Nunez needs to improve
Sherwood isn’t wrong here.
Nunez has so many aspects to his game that are world-class, but as the pundit says, his finishing is bang average, and, to be honest, that is generous.
At times, Nunez’s finishing is downright dreadful. Even when he scores goals you often wonder if he’s made the right decision in terms of the type of shot he’s trying to take, while some of his misses are almost comedic.
The Uruguayan can be such a dangerous weapon against any team, but if he doesn’t learn how to finish, he will never be considered a top striker for Liverpool.
Whoever takes over from Jurgen Klopp at the end of the season has a big job on their hands in terms of trying to refine and improve Nunez’s game, that’s for sure.
