Another hour ticks by and another update appears to emerge in the story of who might be Liverpool’s new manager.
Replacing Jurgen Klopp is going to be one of the biggest calls Liverpool have had to make in modern history.
Klopp will leave behind a huge legacy at the club and much like Manchester United with Sir Alex and Arsenal with Arsene Wenger, it could be a tricky time for the club.
Of course, FSG have moved quickly to bring back Michael Edwards and there is a confidence among fans that they will get it right.
Liverpool linked with numerous managers after Xabi Alonso rules himself out
The Reds are in the midst of compiling a short-list of managers to replace Klopp and despite Alonso’s decision, some good names are in the frame.
Roberto De Zerbi of Brighton is one man Liverpool like a lot. The Italian is thought to feature high on Richard Hughes’ list as well and he does have a release clause in his contract.
Other names, such as Simone Inzaghi and Julian Nagelsmann have had a mention as well.
However, it is the name of Portuguese manager, Ruben Amorim, that keeps getting brought up.

“Ruben Amorim of Sporting Lisbon is definitely in the mix. One of the contenders but to my understanding, not the favourite yet because there isn’t one. As I understand it he has a release clause in his contract and so does De Zerbi so that’s not easy,” Ornstein said on NBC Sports.
Ruben Amorim ticking the boxes for Liverpool
Amorim’s name has been mentioned for some time on these shores after his work with Sporting Lisbon.
The Portuguese coach was linked with the Tottenham job before Ange Postecoglou got it and it’s now looking like he might get the chance to come to England anyway.
It’s already been reported that Amorim will definitely get an interview at Liverpool and he’s been tipped by a few to be the man to replace Klopp.
Further, pundit Nigel Reo-Coker has tipped Amorim to do a fine job and be the ‘perfect choice’, while Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha has tipped his countryman to do it.
It looks, then, like Amorim could well be the one Liverpool turn to as things heat up ahead of the summer.
