‘As big of an impact’: BBC pundit says Liverpool have made a signing as good as James Maddison to Tottenham

There were some truly incredible signings made within the Premier League this summer.

Declan Rice to Arsenal has proven to be a transformative addition, while James Maddison made a huge impact at Tottenham before he was injured.

However, speaking on the BBC Radio Five Live Football Daily Podcast, Paul Robinson has argued that Liverpool have made a signing just as impactful as Maddison to Spurs in the shape of Dominik Szoboszlai.

The Hungarian has been utterly brilliant since arriving at Anfield, and Robinson reckons he has truly been one of the signings of the season.

Szoboszlai one of the signings of the season

Robinson shared his verdict on the £60m man.

“For me, Szobsozlai is one of the best signings of the season. You look at the impact James Maddison has had at Tottenham at the beginning of the season, for me, Szobsozlai has had as big of an impact,” Robinson said.

Brilliant

It’s up for debate whether or not Szoboszlai has in fact been as impactful as Maddison this term, but he’s certainly been brilliant for Liverpool.

Indeed, the Hungarian has taken to life at Anfield like a duck to water, and it’s been very impressive to see him improve week on week.

Szoboszlai has only gotten better as the season has progressed, and at the age of just 23, he still has loads of room to improve.

The Hungarian may not be popping up with the goals or assists in the same was Maddison does, but he’s still been a fantastic addition and he’s been at the heart of so much of what has made Liverpool tick this season.

The Reds are top of the league for a reason, and Szoboszlai has played a huge part in that.

When all is said and done, this could be the signing of the season.
