Arne Slot should sign a £100m winger, who Jamie Carragher says is ‘one of the best’ in the Premier League, for Liverpool this summer transfer window.

Jurgen Klopp left the Merseydsiders at the end of the season following a glittering eight-and-a-half-year spell.

Feyenoord’s boss Slot will take the reigns at Anfield and will be eager to make his own imprint on the squad this summer.

One wide player should be at the very top of his targets.

Liverpool should try to sign Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon

Liverpool tried to replace Sadio Mane with Luis Diaz and whilst the Columbian has had his moments, it’s evident he isn’t quite world class.

So, Slot should be in the market for a more direct winger with lofty potential and that man is Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon.

Gordon enjoyed a phenomenal first full season for The Magpies, netting 12 times whilst laying on 11 assists.

His excellent one-on-one ability would add a new dimension to the frontline and aged only 23, he has plenty of time to develop into a top-level operator.

Liverpool will need to outlay £100m

There has been some suggestion that Liverpool could sign Gordon, though, Newcastle are eager to keep him at St James’ Park.

The Tynesiders are expected to demand around £100m to even consider a sale and even then, that mightn’t be enough.

Perhaps Liverpool should test their resolve with an offer or even a player-plus-cash deal to make it a more feasible proposal.

A telling summer awaits Slot and his chiefs.
