Peter Crouch has shared what he has found amazing about Darwin Nunez during his time at Liverpool, as the striker continues to silence his doubters on Merseyside.
Darwin Nunez has needed some time to get going at Liverpool. There was huge expectation on his shoulders when he arrived in 2022. And he did appear to struggle to deal with that level of pressure.
Nunez has enjoyed a more prominent role this season following the departure of Roberto Firmino. And it certainly appears that those who doubted Nunez are set to be silenced.
Peter Crouch lauds Liverpool fans for how they have treated Darwin Nunez
The Uruguayan has scored 10 goals and contributed 10 assists in all competitions. His 13 goal involvements in 20 Premier League games has helped put Jurgen Klopp’s side top of the table by five points.

Famously, the Englishman failed to score in his first 19 appearances for the Reds. But he went on to have a record of slightly worse than a goal every three games in all competitions.
And speaking on talkSPORT, Peter Crouch insisted that Nunez has the tools to be a huge success at Anfield. He also praised the Liverpool fans for the way they have taken to him.
“He’s in the best place for him to blossom. I remember my time when I signed for Liverpool, I had a really difficult spell at the start. But I think many, many Premier League clubs would have washed their hands of a striker who couldn’t score, certainly after winning the Champions League in the manner they did in Istanbul,” he said.
“But the thing with Darwin Nunez, yeah he’s had a few teething problems and I think he is still a bit raw. But I looked at him last night, I still think he’s going to have a huge impact. And what’s amazing is the fans, how well they’ve stuck by him. He has got that support, that confidence of the manager, his teammates and the fans as well. I think if given time he will eventually blossom into the player he could become.”
Striker has earned respect with how hard he works
Nunez has been directly involved in 39 goals in 74 games for Liverpool in all competitions. So he has already brought plenty to the table during his time on Merseyside.
The fans recognise that his game is about so much more than his goals, too. He works so hard for the team. And the supporters can often tolerate things not going well when it is clear that their players are giving absolutely everything.
Perhaps Nunez will never prove to be as prolific as Mohamed Salah. But then, who could?
