‘Amazing’: Moises Caicedo says Liverpool have a player who reminds him of Enzo Fernandez

Moises Caicedo has been lavishing praise upon Alexis Mac Allister.

Speaking to Stadium Astro, the Chelsea midfielder has been discussing some of his midfield partners in recent times, and he was asked about his former Brighton compatriot.

Caicedo was asked if he’s noticed any similarities between Mac Allister and Enzo Fernandez since leaving Brighton for Chelsea, and he says that he does think the two players are similar.

Caicedo says that he’s enjoyed playing with both players, while he noted that both men have similarly elite mentalities.

Alexis Mac Allister is like Enzo Fernandez

Caicedo spoke about the two midfielders.

“You’ve also played with another great Argentinian, are there similarities between Enzo and Alexis do you find?“ Caicedo was asked.

“Yeah but a different system at Brighton we played another system now it is different. They are top players, I enjoyed it with Mac Allister and now I enjoy it with Enzo. It’s amazing, they have a great mentality. Mac Allister helped me a lot,” Caicedo said.

Could’ve been teammates

It sounds as though Caicedo is a big fan of Mac Allister, and in another world, they could’ve been teammates at Liverpool.

Let’s not forget, this summer, Liverpool did agree a club-record fee with Brighton to sign Caicedo before being gazumped by Chelsea.

Caicedo ultimately joined the Blues, where he has faltered a little bit, and perhaps he would’ve been better off joining Liverpool to reunite with his former Brighton teammate and perhaps push for a Premier League title.

Caicedo may have cost almost three times as much as Mac Allister did this summer, but after a poor season at Stamford Bridge, it does look as though Liverpool got the better end of the deal here when it comes to signing midfielders from Brighton.
