Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott might have scored a wonder goal yesterday but he was quick to find time to praise one of his teammates.
Elliott rifled in a stunning strike from the edge of the box to put Liverpool 4-0 up and he once again showed why Jurgen Klopp has faith in him.
The 21-year-old has had a serious injury to overcome and this season, especially the last few months, he’s proven to everyone he can produce and impact games, as he did yesterday.

And speaking after the game yesterday, Elliott had some kind words about his teammate Gakpo.

Speaking on the Official Liverpool FC podcast, Elliott lauded the recent performances of the Dutchman.
“Oh absolutely, you know, Cody puts his heart on the line for the team each and every game and he works so hard for us. On the pitch he’s a pleasure to play with and off the pitch he’s an even better guy as well. We’re over the moon for him and his recent performances have been amazing so yeah, he deserves his goal today,” Elliott said.
Both Elliott and Gakpo have had stop start seasons really and have, in the main, come off the bench for Jurgen Klopp.
However, with Darwin Nunez struggling for form recently and midfielders like Dominik Szoboszlai not being at their best either, Elliott and Gakpo have seized their chance.
With Arne Slot set to take over from Klopp and essentially give everyone a fresh start, Elliott and Gakpo have done themselves no harm with their recent performances.
Goals obviously make the headlines but in terms of overall play, the duo have also contributed to Liverpool looking better, as they did v Tottenham.
Next season, then, the pair will be crucial for the Reds and could well have an even bigger impact in 24/25 than they have done this term.
