Liverpool have been searching for a new manager since Jurgen Klopp announced his intention to step down at the end of the season.
At the start, we had links between the Reds and Xabi Alonso. After he expressed his desire to stay at Bayer Leverkusen, Ruben Amorim became the frontrunner.
However, Tuesday brought a long a big development on the Liverpool manager front, with a new name suddenly emerging as the new frontrunner for the Anfield role.
And now, according to the Evening Standard, Feyenoord’s Arne Slot is at the top of the Anfield wish-list to replace Klopp.

Now, Fabrizio Romano has provided a further update on the state of play involving Liverpool and Slot. And it’s good news for those who’d like him in the Anfield dugout.
What has Fabrizio Romano said about Liverpool and Arne Slot?
“Liverpool had direct contact with Arne Slot as candidate for the job,” the transfer insider wrote on X.
“One direct contact took place with Feyenoord manager and understand one more is already scheduled. Slot, part of #LFC shortlist.”

It looks as though things are developing quite quickly on this front, which is great to hear.
As a top club, Liverpool will be after a top manager, and many of them still have a lot to play for this term.
However, in Feyenoord’s case, the chances of them leapfrogging PSV to the Eredivisie title are low at present.
The Eindhoven club is currently nine points clear at the top of the table with just four games left to play. They could wrap the title up this week.
With that in mind, it makes sense for Slot to be in talks with Liverpool already, as per Romano’s report.
