Some of the best players in Premier League history have been left-footers.
Riyad Mahrez, Robin van Persie and David Silva are but a few fantastic left-footed players in Premier League history.
Lefties are often some of the most entertaining and exciting players to watch, and now, speaking on the BBC Match of the Day Top 10 Podcast, Alan Shearer has been ranking the best left-footed players to ever play in the English top-flight.
As you can imagine, there were some absolute legends in this conversation, while there were also a few modern players who got a mention.
Speaking on the podcast, Alan Shearer put Mohamed Salah in second just behind Ryan Giggs at number one, but, interestingly, he placed the Liverpool star ahead of Erling Haaland at number five.

The pundit shared his verdict on the best left-footers to ever play in England.
“I’ve gone at five Haaland, four Ashley Cole, three David Silva, Mohamed Salah at number two and then Ryan Giggs number one,” Shearer said.
Erling Haaland vs Mohamed Salah
This is an interesting debate that is bound to split a number of fans.
Salah and Haaland have undoubtedly been two of the best attackers the Premier League has ever seen, and deciding who is better is not an easy task.
On one hand, Salah has done it for longer, and arguably to a higher standard due to his ability to create as well as score.
However, at the same time, Haaland’s 2023/24 campaign may be the best we’ve ever seen from a Premier League player, and he looks like he could smash every goalscoring record ever set if he stays in England for long enough.
These two are a pair of all-time greats, but given that Haaland has only been here for two seasons, we’re going to agree with Shearer and just edge with Salah in this debate, for now at least.
