142 Brighton had to sell a number of their key players this summer.
Indeed, after a fantastic campaign under Roberto De Zerbi last time around, the Seagulls’ star men were cherry picked and taken away from the club.
The likes of Alexis Mac Allister and Moises Caicedo were snatched from The Amex, and after a 3-0 loss to Fulham at the weekend, it’s fair to say they are missing these two.
Speaking on Hawksbee and Jacobs Daily, Jermaine Pennant has been discussing Brighton and how much they’re missing these two players, and he says that the Seagulls are missing Mac Allister much more than Caicedo, claiming that the Argentine has been way better than the Chelsea star this season.

Pennant spoke about the £35m man and his former Brighton teammate.
“It is hard to live up to that when you lose Caicedo and Mac Allister, two absolutely, well, I wouldn’t say Caicedo, more Mac Allister, it’s not worked for him at Chelsea, but to lose those two players will have a big knock-on effect at your club and you can see it,” Pennant said.
Better deal
These two have had such different careers since leaving Brighton.
Mac Allister has gone from strength to strength as he helps Liverpool in their Premier League title push, while Caicedo has struggled to make much of an impact at all as Chelsea struggle in mid-table.
There’s a real trend of Brighton players struggling after leaving the south coast club, and while Mac Allister has bucked that trend, Caicedo appears to have fallen into the same trap as the likes of Marc Cucurella, Neal Maupay and, arguably, Yves Bissouma.
Signing Mac Allister for £35m was certainly a better deal than signing Caicedo for £115m.
