‘Absolutely no chance’: Paul Merson confident £34m Liverpool player will start vs Crystal Palace

Paul Merson has given his prediction of the upcoming Premier League match between Roy Hodgson’s Crystal Palace and Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.

The former Arsenal star and Sky Sports pundit has picked his winners and backed Mohamed Salah to start for Liverpool.

So, what has Paul Merson said about Mohamed Salah, Liverpool and Crystal Palace? Let’s take a look.

Paul Merson backs Liverpool to beat Crystal Palace

Well, Crystal Palace will take on Liverpool at Selhurst Park in London in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

It is a lunchtime kickoff, and, as you would expect, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is not happy.

Liverpool, though, are the overwhelming favourites for the match. After all, the Reds have the better team and are in better form.

Former Arsenal star and Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson has predicted Liverpool to pick up all three points from the encounter courtesy of a 2-0 win.

The pundit believes that Liverpool manager Klopp will include Mohamed Salah in the starting lineup.

The £34 million (BBC Sport) Egyptian forward started against Sheffield United in midweek, but he was taken off midway through the second half.

Merson told SportsKeeda: “Crystal Palace played an open game against West Ham United, but they are currently a bit depleted as the likes of Eberechi Eze and Odsonne Edouard are injured. They’ll make it hard for Liverpool, but this is a good time for the Reds to play against Palace, so I fancy them to secure an easy 2-0 win.

“Liverpool have the luxury of rotating their forwards, but there’s absolutely no chance Mohamed Salah gets benched. He was withdrawn prematurely in their 2-0 win against Sheffield United, but I think he’ll be fit and raring to go on Saturday.

“Salah pretty much plays every game, but Klopp can afford to rotate his other forwards – they have four players for the remaining two positions and they are all around the same level. It’s a nice problem to have and it usually boils down to getting it right on the day.

Prediction: Crystal Palace 0-2 Liverpool.”

My View: Mohamed Salah will score for Liverpool vs Crystal Palace

I am backing Mohamed Salah to score for Liverpool against Crystal Palace. We know that the former Chelsea player is a goal machine.

He is world class and is playing well at the moment. Salah has scored 10 goals and given six assists in 15 Premier League matches so far this season.

Salah is just one goal away from scoring 200 times for Liverpool. I believe that he will hit the mark on Saturday.
