'A strong chance': Liverpool could make 'one of the signings of the summer' for less than £60m - journalist

Liverpool fans are expecting a busy old summer this time around with a new manager in place and the return of Michael Edwards.

With Jurgen Klopp moving on and Arne Slot set to be the man to replace him, there’s a feeling that Liverpool could see a host of new players arrive.

Quite what say Slot will have in that, remains to be seen. The likes of Edwards and new man Richard Hughes will have a list of targets and Slot will, in theory, need to buy in to most of those suggestions.

Of course, among the players being linked are those who Slot knows well from his time in management.

One of those is midfielder Teun Koopmeiners, who has been linked with a move to Anfield and more in recent weeks.

And according to journalist Dean Jones, Koopmeiners is going to prove one of the best signings on the market this summer.

Liverpool could sign Teun Koopmeiners for less than £60m

Speaking to GiveMeSport about Koopmeiners and his future, Jones has suggested whoever lands the midfielder is getting one of the signings of the window.

“Koopmeiners is one to watch out for at the end of the season because he wants to move and if the Juventus transfer does not work out for him then there is a strong chance he will move to the Premier League. Arsenal have had a good look at him and so have Liverpool,” Jones said.

“Newcastle have been linked but that one has been played down to me recently, while you can never rule Chelsea out as they have had eyes on him in the past. His price bracket is €50-60million and for me, that’s an absolute bargain. He would be one of the signings of the summer.”

Koopmeiners to Anfield makes sense

Given how good Koopmeiners has been for Atalanta this season and the fact Liverpool got a close look at him in Europe, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him arrive.

That, coupled with the fact Arne Slot knows him well from their time in the Netherlands means the dots are easy to join up here.

Of course, Koopmeiners also needs to be of a certain level but he’s shown with Atalanta he is very much on top of his game right now.

Liverpool signed Wataru Endo just last summer but Koopmeiners could well be a step up in that position.

Some might say £50-60m is expensive. But if he is as good as Jones suggests here, then Liverpool could be onto a winner.
